Ordering a Norfolk Oak worktop

We like to work with our customers on a one to one basis, discussing your requirements via telephone or email. If you have a kitchen plan, a rough diagram/sketch with measurements, or simply a list of worktop sizes, then we are happy to quote from these. From there if you would like to proceed then we ask you to call our office to place your order and make payment. If beneficial we will produce a CAD diagram to illustrate your worktop order and ask you to confirm the dimensions on the diagram are correct before construction commences. If we require any additional information in regards to production this would be highlighted at this point. Once the order is signed off and a delivery date arranged, the bespoke carpentry will begin.

Ordering a Worktop Sample

We understand that purchasing worktops is a tremendous decision and one that will affect you every day for years to come. If you’d like to see the incredible beauty of our hardwoods for yourself then we would recommend purchasing a sample. We send out our samples oiled and finished. They provide you with an excellent display of the beauty in both colour and grain and also the quality of our wood. Our worktop samples are approximately 150 mm by 150 mm and are priced at £4.95 each including delivery. We also sell end grain samples which are priced at £12.95 each including delivery. Samples can be purchased online or by giving us a call.

Worktop Sizing

At Norfolk Oak there is no such thing as a "standard size" - instead of cutting prefabricated worktops down to size; we make each worktop specifically to size. This means there is no compromise for you when designing your kitchen. No other wooden worktop manufacturer operates this way meaning that when you buy a worktop that does not fit one of their standard sizes it means some of the money you pay them goes towards the wasted timber. Our online worktop quote calculators provide pricing for almost any worktop length and width. Just tell us the sizes you need and we will produce your worktops to those exact sizes.

Quoting your worktops

We can provide you with quotations via telephone or email for any custom sized worktops. If you have a diagram such as a kitchen plan or hand drawn sketch that you would like us to quote on, this can be emailed to us. Please include the wood(s) and style(s) you are interested in as well as any other details such as edging and upstand locations. If you're not sure of the details, that's what we're here for!

In most cases we cannot give an exact quote from a kitchen plan, only an estimate. This is because most designer produced kitchen plans only give the information for the units, without giving details of worktop widths, overhang, radius corners, butt joins and other important information necessary to give an exact quote. Kitchen designers often leave these details out if they supply their own worktops because they just use their own standard sizes. To be able to give you an accurate quotation you just need to ask your kitchen designer to supply either a worktop plan, a conclusive list of dimensions for the worktops required, or - if they are unable to supply either of those - to give a precise surface area plan of the tops of the units requiring worktops. With these details we can then discuss with you the options and give you an accurate quote.

from cad diagrams to the finished article

Once you are happy with your worktop shapes and sizes and have placed your order, its time to start manufacturing. However, before any wood is cut we produce a detailed CAD diagram for any bespoke designs. This allows you to fully inspect the final sizes of your worktops, making sure everything is as expected, effectively signing off the diagram before production starts.

Shown here is one of our typical CAD diagrams. It shows details such as overall worktop dimensions as well as sink cutout sizes. Once the customer is happy with this, the diagram is used as the fabrication plan by our workshops to produce wooden worktops like the one shown below.
